Back 10 October 2013Family law: Civil Partnership Dissolutions on the Rise Statistics recently published reveal that civil partnerships have begun to break up at a speed approaching the divorce rates of heterosexual couples. The number of partnerships dissolved in England and Wales rose by 20% last year which has more than doubled in three years. The office for the national statistics has stated that the number of civil partnerships celebrated in 2012 rose by 3.6% from 2011 and therefore not surprisingly dissolutions have also risen but at a disproportionate rate. We will wait to see whether this continues and what the statistics show when same sex marriage comes into effect next year.
