Back 7 March 2025James Maguire features in The Times Our managing director James Maguire has shared his thoughts on the recent, aptly named, case of FI v DO in an opinion piece for The Times. Whilst pets have previously been viewed as personal property, in this case, the court considered the welfare of the couple’s golden retriever as well as the emotional bond between it and the children – more in line with the approach taken when looking at child arrangements. James discussed what this could mean going forward, changes happening in other jurisdictions and whether the courts need to rethink how they view pets in divorce proceedings. You can read more about the case and what it could mean, in our blog.
