Family Law: Divorce and putting the children first

Netmums have published their findings today of a survey which they conducted on 1000 divorced parents and 100 children aged between 8 and 18.  Netmums report that divorced parents are often in denial about how badly the breakdown of their marriage has damaged their children. More than three quarters of parents asked believed that their children had “coped well” even though just 18% of the children interviewed said that they were happy with the situation. Almost a third of the children described themselves as devastated by the divorce and sadly 35% of children claimed that one parent had tried to turn them against the other. There are further upsetting statistics which have emerged from this study which has been published ahead of 6 January 2013 which is dubbed D-Day as the day that many couples file for divorce.
