Back 16 September 2014Congratulations: Another Royal baby!! William and Kate have announced that happily Kate is pregnant although not so happily she is again suffering with severe morning sickness. The baby once born will be fourth in line to the throne meaning that Price Harry is to be “demoted” again. When asked about this he seemed far from upset by the implications and said the news was “great”. A new arrival in a non-Royal family can also have wider implications and may need to be handled sensitively. This may particularly be the case where there the new arrival is a step-sibling. As well as the emotional issues there may be legal issues to consider, for example, is it possible to change a child surname so all step-siblings can have the same and/ or should there be a change to the time which one child spends with you as a result of the new baby?
