Coercive control research features in The Independent

Following a concerning rise in the number of cases we handle which involve an element of coercive control, we recently commissioned research looking at the prevalence of this hidden form of abuse in the UK. The survey also sought to understand the public’s understanding of the signs of coercive control, its impact and awareness of where to get support.

The thought-provoking stats caught the attention of The Independent and led to a powerful piece with insights from our managing director, James Maguire. The top findings from the research and James’ expertise were complemented by an interview with reality TV star and campaigner, Sharon Gaffka, who discussed coercive control from a personal perspective and helped to amplify the message further.

You can read the full article on The Independent website, and you can find more information about out coercive control campaign by reading this blog.

The research was also featured in an article on the Today’s Family Lawyer website, urging family lawyers to be aware of the signs of coercive control and understand how to signpost clients to support.
